I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in. – John Muir
I go to nature to be soothed and healed, and to have my senses put in order. – John Burroughs
These quotes set the stage for Dialogues with Nature: exploring the mystery and beauty in nature. By connecting with nature and the world around us, we can improve the photographs we make. This workshop is for everyone of all levels wishing to improve how they see and photograph nature and the world around them. Any camera or Iphone will work nicely.
There is much to be learned from the natural world surrounding us. In this class we will practice mindfully connecting with nature. We’ll take daily photographic excursions to many of the Hudson Valley’s most beautiful locations and in the traditions of Miksang and Wabi-sabi will learn to see our subjects anew. Everything, subjects, color, form, and composition take on new meaning, and how this manifests through us and our photography is a magical experience. My goal is to assist everyone to move toward that experience and feeling.
